Moiliili residents Enrico Neri and Ann Pobutsky, above, visited the headquarters of Aloha Medicinals Inc. in Carson City, Nev., last month. The company, which produces organic medicinal mushrooms, was founded in Hawaii by a group of scientists and health care professionals, according to the company website. The first lab was built in Haiku, Maui, in 1999. It relocated to Santa Cruz, Calif., in 2002 before landing in Carson City in 2007. Pobutsky, a sociologist, is a project specialist and analyst at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
