3 arrested in separate incidents for biting, striking police officers
Three people are in custody after three police officers reported being assaulted while making arrests in Waikiki, Waianae and Kaneohe.
A 36-year-old Kailua woman allegedly bit a police officer who had stopped and was in the process of arresting her for drunken driving just before 5 p.m. Thursday on Kaneohe Bay Drive.
A 23-year-old homeless man allegedly struck a 43-year-old officer at 6:50 p.m. on Kalakaua Avenue. Beside a first-degree assault charge involving a police officer, the suspect also was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault.
A 26-year-old Waianae man was arrested at his home at 11:20 a.m. Thursday for allegedly assaulting a police officer a day earlier and fleeing.

Another day in the life of an officer on the Honolulu Police Department! Interesting or boring?
I would not call risking your life boring. Any altercation can be deadly. A distance of 5-7ft can be closed in less than a second. The element of surprise can be fatal for these officers.
These people got arrested but they got the tar whooped out of them afterward.
Do they still carry blackjacks, telescoping batons, or night sticks? I would use them.
Not like that anymore, too bad!
Attacks on police are extremely rare in North Dakota. Not sure why it is so common out here.
Basically there is nothing much to do in North Dakota and police presence is few and far between.
Punishment and accountability almost non-existent in Hawaii. Criminals know this.
Who’s telling the truth? I want to see body cam videos. Always 2 sides to a story.
Really!
Bookem and releasem Danno so they can do it again and again till someone really gets hurt. Might be someone you know next time. Insanity continues……
It seems that being a HPD Officer is a very thankless job. Always being in the limelight, held to a higher standard with expectations, on duty 24/7, great possibility of injury of being assaulted, who knows if you will come home to your love ones at the end of the shift. I thank you to the men and women in blue who put their lives on the line to make his nei safe…..Too bad that crooks have rights…what is needed is street justice!
Well said Roxie. I second, my thoughts are in line with you.
Totally agree!
A police officer in Hawaii should be held to a higher standard for two important reasons: first, they, unlike ordinary civilians, have the authority to detain you against your will and second, they, unlike ordinary civilians, are allowed to carry a loaded gun most anywhere they go. As for crooks having rights? Well, be glad we live in a society in which they do.
What did you mean by be glad we live in a society in which they (crooks or police) do.
Because you never know if someday you’ll be falsely accused of a crime, in which case you’ll be glad that Constitutional rights and protections exist.
HPD did not shoot!!??
Most people who assault others probably have nothing to lose because they have nothing. No education, no job, no property. So the victim will get “zero” even if the suspect gets convicted.
Regarding:

If anyone bites me, I would instinctively react with whatever means available. These might be a couple of kicks, baton strikes, fists, etc.
Then apologize for defending myself.
The human mouth is one of the dirtiest places you’re apt to encounter. Don’t forget the tetanus shot.
