High surf advisory in effect for north, west shores; warning canceled

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday for the north and west shores of Oahu, Kauai, Niihau and Molokai and the north shores of Maui and Hawaii island.

The National Weather Service said surf of 12 to 18 feet can be expected on Kauai and Niihau and on the north shores of Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.

Surf of eight to 12 feet is forecast for the west shores of Oahu and Molokai.

A more serious hugh surf warning was cancelled today.

The weather service said shorebreaks and currents Sunday will be strong and dangerous.
