Fire causes $150,000 in damages to Kalihi home

Firefighters arrived at a Kalihi home to find smoke and flames coming from the kitchen window just before noon today.

Responding firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the kitchen of a Kalihi home this morning.

The fire broke out just before noon at 1760 Gulick Avenue, Fire Capt. David Jenkins said.

Firefighters controlled the fire at 12:02 p.m. and extinguished it by 12:47 p.m.

No one was in the home and no injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting the people who live there.

Damage is estimated to be $150,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
