Man who faked Pharrell concert faces term for dating scams

PITTSBURGH » A man who falsely claimed he could help book a Pharrell concert for a South Korean steel company and bilked women through dating scams out of nearly $1 million has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Sigismond Segbefia must also pay $1.2 million in total restitution after today’s sentencing and faces deportation when he leaves prison.

He pleaded guilty in December to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. As part of the plea, he also acknowledged bilking Dosko Co. by pretending to promote a Pharrell Williams show. The company was planning to expand into entertainment.

Segbefia was living in Silver Spring, Maryland, when he ran the scams from 2013 until he was arrested last April by customs officials in New York as he returned from his native Ghana.
