Budweiser beer getting new name
NEW YORK » There’s no trademark on America.
Budweiser, now owned by Belgium’s AB Inbev, will rename its beer “America” this summer and alter its labels with images and phrases affiliated with the republic.
The red, white and blue campaign is being launched into a very competitive market already foamy with craft beers, and upon a drinking public bracing itself for a presidential election likely to be unlike any before it.
The campaign, called “America is in Your Hands,” will run from May 23 through November and will include on cans and bottles passages ranging from Pledge of Allegiance to lyrics from “The Star Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”
“Budweiser has always strived to embody America in a bottle, and we’re honored to salute this great nation where our beer has been passionately brewed for the past 140 years.” said Ricardo Marques, vice president at Budweiser.
The “America” label will appear on 12-ounce cans and bottles. The new cans and bottles will include images like a magnified view of the Statue of Liberty’s torch and Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.

It’s not Budweiser’s first venture into “America,” the brand. A year after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Clydesdales where shown in commercial crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and pausing near the World Trade Center.
It’s a well-worn path in advertising, particularly as the July 4th or Presidents Day approaches, when Honest Abe hawks used cars or George Washington routes the British in a shiny Dodge Charger with a big, old American flag sticking out of the passenger window.

Will the ingredients be changed, also?
To something drinkable?
WHEN YOUR OUT OF BUD, YOUR OUT OF BUSINESS!!
bad idea, why mess with it if it ain’t broke.
Because Belgians have different tastes in beer.
Belgians have better taste in beer.
It IS broke. This is a desperate, pandering ad campaign to try to boost sales of an awful beer that has suffered a steady and well-deserved decline in sales since 1988 when sales were three times what they are today.
If Bud is bad, change the ingredients—when you go to Europe–the best seller is Bud, even in Ireland–change the name of Coke–stupid–years to build the name–a household name????
Or when foreign companies own America.
It seems like a risky idea to rebrand Budweiser. First it went from being “The king of beers,” to “A great American lager.” Now they want to rename it America. Why don’t they just call it American Swill and call it a day.
Agreed. It was never “King of Beers”, nor was it ever a “Great American Lager”, however it’s always been swill.
LOL! Agree 100% rr!
Election season. Put the Preamble to our Constitution on the can! And then have Trump and Clinton “endorse” the message. Nevah happen’!
Dumb.
beer will taste horrible. try give it a taste lift
Yes I would agree that Budweiser has never been a very good beer and it has been greatly overshadowed by beers like Coors especially here in Hawaii and by other beers
such as Samuel Adams and the many other “craft type” beers now readily available.
You can rename it after great uncle Elmer, but that still won’t improve its taste.
Nope. Not a bit.
Lipstick on a hog
They need to change the beer name from America to Unweiser if Trump is elected president.
First, Jeb Bush tried to tell everyone that a handgun embodies “America” — and now this. Does Jeb and AB Inbev hate our country?
First they move overseas to avoid taxes and probably take jobs with them. Then they attempt to proclaim patriot status by renaming their beer “America”. This should fool no one. I like the horses, but trying to conflate the beer with patriotism is a cheap sham. Bud does not equal patriot or hero, which will probably come next.
Doesn’t seem to be a very smart move. But who knows. I certainly don’t drink the stuff.
I walk to into a bar.. Give me an “A!”.. I want something lighter.. give me an “AL!”.. this will go the same way as what Coke did when they changed the formula several years ago… they will wake up and revert to what we do in the past, this will fail, keep the collector cans for the next few monts … Why do we still use the standard measuring system while 90% of the world uses the metric system? cuz we are USA… bold, stubborn and proud.. keep it USA.. cuz the other 90% want to leave their country and come to ours (legally and through other channels).. USA.. USA.. USA !!!
AMERICA=LIGHT WEIGHT. It all makes sense.
1. Will “America” be sold in the Budweis region of the Czech Republic, for which Budweiser was originally named?
2. Will the folk trio America appear on the cans?
3. Is Trump’s new campaign slogan, “Make Budweiser great again”?
4. In other news, Coors announced it will rename its product “Beer.”
Come January we will have a new smooth high class Trump Beer. Until then Rolling Rock fits the bill.
