Time Warner name will vanish; Charter closes acquisition
NEW YORK » Charter Communications is closing on its $67 billion acquisition of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. The deals make Charter the second-largest home Internet provider and third-largest video provider in the U.S.
Charter, which is based in Stamford, Connecticut, says it now has 24 million subscribers in 41 states. It agreed to buy Time Warner and Bright House last year, but the deals weren’t cleared by antitrust regulators and other government agencies until the last few weeks.
Charter says its Spectrum brand will replace the Time Warner Cable and Bright House brands over the next 18 months or so. The company’s stock rose 33 cents to $225.24 in midday trading.
The name Time Warner will eventually be phased out and the company will be known as Charter Communications.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss? Time will tell.
The important part of this story is how will this affect our wallets here in Hawaii? Where is Paul Harvey when you need him?
agree..only question is how does it impact our service and wallets. Oceanic Cable is very expensive!
We would have been much better served if Oceanic was still in charge, and not TWC and now Charter.
Is this the “legal reason” OC Sports stopped online streaming of UH sports televised events? Seemed like a sudden and puzzling decision that left many UH fans outside of Hawaii high and dry.
Monthly fees start escalating?
If Charter Communications starts to raise fees or make them up, cut back on their services and subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, other services.
Which have both increased their fees and don’t offer very good programming.
Netflix has over 10,000 movies to choose from with more added monthly. How many do you need in a lifetime? It’s a tremendous bargain for less than ten dollars a month. Raising their price by a dollar for the first time in many years shouldn’t be a hardship to many. We dropped HBO, Showtime, etc. years ago.
We are going to be responsible for our part of that 67B… Expect to pay more … for less… 🙁
At least it’s not Comcast.
Glad I have Hawaiian Telcom
i hope Charter keeps Oc16 and Surf channels
