Police: Man assaulted officer during arrest in Kakaako

A 36-year-old homeless man allegedly assaulted a police officer while being arrested for being disorderly conduct and damaging property in Kakaako just after midnight Wednesday.

Police said the incident occurred on South Street at 12:28 a.m.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

    He’s not homeless anymore & is going to be well taken care of thanks to Hawaii taxpayers. The homeless know the game. Rob a bank, steal or damage property in the felony degree & go to jail for a while. After they get released, do the crime again and go back to jail through the revolving door.

      I hope the courts realize that assault on a police officer is a very serious charge. Being soft on homeless crime is not garnering Hawaii any favorable press or acceptance.

    Keep on giving the more they have money to buy drugs and booze. Lawmakers and do gooders are doing more damage than good.
