National Rifle Association: More gun control not the answer
WASHINGTON » The National Rifle Association is reaffirming its position that more gun control won’t stop extremists or criminals from carrying out attacks.
Chief lobbyist Chris Cox says the Florida nightclub massacre — the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history — doesn’t change the NRA’s opposition to tighter gun laws. He spoke a day ahead of Senate votes on four measures to control the sale of guns. None is expected to pass
NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre tells CBS’ “Face the Nation” that “the politically correct White House” is pushing gun restrictions as a way of diverting attention from its failure in the “terrorist area.”
Cox says on ABC’s “This Week” that the “catastrophic situation” facing the country has “nothing to do with firearms.” He says it’s about stopping “radical Islamic terrorists.”

If guns kill people then….pencils mis pel words….cars make people drive drunk….spoons make people fat!!!
Guns don’t kill people….Abortions Do!!!
Wacky comment. People in Europe can’t believe that some in this country actually worry if a woman they don’t know, have never met and will never see in their entire life has an abortion. It’s really between the woman and her doctor and not somebody carrying a sign in front of an abortion clinic for the Catholic church. Each religion should follow their own beliefs and not try to force others to follow something they don’t believe in.
People in Europe have a lot more restrictions on abortion and I’ll never make a decision for someone else.
Obama is dividing the country again by diverting attention away from his dismal record on radical Islamic terrorism and spewing about taking weapons away from the law abiding Americans.
The worship and idolatry of guns in this country is the new God of the NRA and the religious right
Hillary wants to abolish the first and second amendments. She takes money from The Muslim countries who believe in Sharia law. No rights for women and gays and believe their religion is the only religion. So much for the first amendment.
She wants gun control when in the second amendment it says Americans, not radical Islamists, have the right to bear arms to defend Americans against their enemies. Plain and simple.
I think Americans are barking up the wrong tree. It’s Obama and Clinton we should be after. For the last eight years it takes a massacre to get them to finally realize what a total failure they were. Too little, to late.
if you can carry, appoint a designated carry. just like a designated driver, that person does not drink alcohol. try to make it someone who has the smallest grouping and all shots in the black. it’s not about engaging the shooter, it’s about covering your retreat.
police have no duty to protect any individual or groups of individuals. your personal safety and that of your family is your responsibility.
in a country that has killed more than 55 million innocent babies on the altar of women’s rights, you shouldn’t depend on it to protect you or your family.
Guns don’t kill people. Crazy people and poor policies governing gun laws are responsible for getting people killed.
People will use any means to kill someone if a gun, knife, bat, scapel, frying pan, rock, vehicle or whatever means are available.
How many people can you kill with a knife before being shot by the police or clubbed on the head by bystanders? Most are not against ownership of small arms but against rapid firing ones that can kill and injure scores of people in couple of minutes. These are the weapons that should be banned. Only shooting ranges, outside of the police or the military, should possess them.
Yes, crazy people are responsible for getting people killed. So why are Republicans so afraid of passing a law which over 90% of the country (including gun owners) WANT to pass which would require background checks? Why won’t Republicans pass a bill that will prohibit the sale of firearms to anyone on the No Fly list? People who have shown their inability to, for example, operate a motor vehicle without being intoxicated have their licenses revoked and are not allowed to drive. Why not have similar common sense laws for gun ownership?
Guns do kill people. Try shooting an unloaded gun at somebody and see what happens. NRA says gun laws won’t do it but lax gun laws are not doing it either! Chicago has the strictest gun laws but highest murder rates because criminals just drive over state lines and buy them from a city with lax gun laws and come back to Chicago and use them so that is a lame argument. Bring up gun laws and NRA and it’s paranoid followers read it as BAN ALL GUNS. Then the best is so you can protect yourself against a tyrannical government. Yeah right, have you looked at our politicians? Fat, old, lazy, living in their own little pocket immune from reality. Far from tyrannical. Everyone has a right to own a gun for self defense. Every single one of us. No problem with that. Assault weapons? They did not exist when the second amendment was created so the amendment does not include automatic weapons. Had the Orlando killer used a hand gun, even a semi-auto, maybe he gets 10 people max, but not 48 and when reloading, people could have jumped him. Now the NRA says it’s a terrorist issue. No it’s not. Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, Columbine, and so on were all home grown non-Islamic killers. It’s the NRA that puts up smokescreen because they think money can buy public stupidity. Guns do kill people. People kill people. People with guns kill people. Don’t think so? Watch, in couple months somebody else is going to kill a lot of people because everybody knows, nothing will be done about it.
Mateen bought an AR-15 military assault rifle, then used it five days later to commit the largest mass killing in the history of our country. This Muslim terrorist hate crime may not have been preventable but in the end it was certainly much worse than it would have been had there been a ban on the sale of military assault weapons in place. That much is clear.
