Boy, 4, escapes injury after sliding down Manoa Falls embankment

A four-year old visitor slid about 20 to 30 feet down a mud embankment while hiking with his parents at Manoa Falls Tuesday, but escaped without any injuries, the fire department reported.

The incident was reported at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday about a half mile from the trail head.

The boy was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and the parents refused treatment.

The incident occurred almost a week after Kristi Takanishi, who last year was Kaiser High School’s valedictorian, fell while hiking at Manoa Falls on Thursday. She died at the hospital two days later.

The Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause of death was blunt force injuries of the head.

Memorial ceremonies for the 19-year-old University of Washington pre-med student will be held at 5 p.m. June 28 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.

Maybe the parents of the 4 year old need blunt force trauma to the head.
