The Coast Guard continues to search for three missing fishermen after their 20-foot fishing vessel, Iwa, was spotted overturned approximately 25 miles off of Haleiwa Boat Harbor on Monday.

The Coast Guard is searching as far west as Kauai and up to 100 miles north of Haleiwa for three missing fishermen from an overturned boat located 25 miles off the North Shore Monday.

The search is being extended into a fourth day today.

The Coast Guard Cutter Ahi will be joined today by an HC-130 Hercules airplane and a Navy P-3 Orion patrol aircraft to continue the search, said Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Sara Mooers.

She said the Coast Guard searched Wednesday with an HC-130 airplane, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, the Cutter Ahi, and a 45-foot response boat. A Marine UH-1Y helicopter also assisted in the search Wednesday. .

The missing are Jensen Loo, Clint Oshima, and Derek Thomas, all 30.

The men left Haleiwa Sunday morning in the 20-foot Iwa and were supposed to return at 5 that afternoon. Family reported them missing Sunday.

On Monday, the Coast Guard spotted the Iwa overturned about 25 miles off Haleiwa Boat Harbor.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast has been issued alerting mariners in the area to keep a sharp lookout and report any sightings to the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center. Anyone with information that may help locate the three fishermen is asked to contact the Sector Honolulu Command Center at 842-2600.

Mooers said there were life vests on board the vessel, but it is unknown whether the men were wearing them and none have been recovered.
