California man who apparently drowned off Maui is identified

Maui police have identified the 47-year-old California visitor who died after he was found unconscious in the waters of Napili Bay as James Guanga.

Guanga was found floating in the waters off of Napili Bay at 12:17 p.m. Monday.

He was brought to shore and beachgoers and emergency personnel administered CPR and life-saving measures. Guanga died in the ambulance on his way to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
