2 injured in early morning shooting in Kalihi
Detectives are investigating a first-degree attempted murder case involving a possible early morning drive-by shooting in Kalihi.
Officers responded to Ahonui Street near the Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services building at about 3 a.m. today. Lt. Roy Nakama of the Honolulu Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division said two victims, one male and one female, suffered gunshot wounds to their lower extremities.
Detectives found shell casings on the roadway.
A family member drove the victims to Queen’s Medical Center, where they were treated and released for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to a friend of the male victim.
The friend, who declined to give her name, said the male victim is 19 years old and suffered two gunshot wounds to his leg. The age of the female victim is unknown.
She said the victims, who are homeless, were hanging out on Ahonui Street near the comprehensive family services building when a person inside a two-door, dark-colored sedan drove by and allegedly shot the victims.

Organised crime?
I bet more on disorganized crime.
Crime in Hawaii seems to be increasing!
There may be small increases or decreases from year to year but crime in the 1970s-1990s was actually much higher both in Hawaii and the nation as a whole. It’s just that we didn’t have the internet and 24/7 media saturating us with stories all the time. Look at the UCI (Uniform Crime Report) if you don’t believe me.
Yeah, there were quite a few more murders during several of the years of the 80s. (Thanks Charlie Stevens et al.)
If was on the main highway probably the road would be closed for hours.
Must have been a Gun-Free zone, these sort of shootings seldom ever happen in places where many are armed. http://bit.ly/2alz9YW
People in Kalihi are well armed, you/we may not know it cause the weapons used are unregistered. smh
But but but it’s a gun free zone! You’re not allowed guns in a gun free zone! 😉 Take a look at http://bit.ly/2au8MSj and also http://bit.ly/2aObIeB These two sum everything up in a nutshell.
I know your voting for Hillary! smh
Really? Because “America’s Deadliest Sniper” got his okole killed at a gun range.
I did say seldom, there never is a 100% safe situation. The sniper shooting was a very unfortunate situation, the killer was diagnosed with severe PTSD and should never have been near a gun. Anyone with mental problems should never be near any possible weapon as they can go nuts at any moment.
“Gun free zone?” By that you must mean one of those places where CCW permit holders aren’t allowed to carry their weapons. That must be why the shooters picked that particular spot! They knew that if they pulled out in any other place one of Hawaii’s thousands of armed citizens would have shot back back.
BINGO!

I don’t think we have gun free zones in Hawaii probably because the Islands are a small area. Besides only the timid have guns or those that don’t really need them because of other talents.
Wild wild town side
Details need to be had before this goes down the path of being a homeless issue. I would not be surprised that this is drug related.
Homeless, drugs and crime go hand in hand. Isn’t it obvious?
true..hard to say yet what was behind this.
Who benefits from this shooting?
There’s a story behind this will come out some time on page 12.
