NEW YORK >> Clint Eastwood has stopped short of endorsing Donald Trump, but in an interview in Esquire magazine he praised the Republican presidential candidate for being “on to something.”

In the interview posted online Wednesday, the actor-director hailed Trump as a foe of political correctness and lamented what he called “the kiss-ass generation.”

“Everybody’s walking on eggshells,” said Eastwood, 86. “We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist.”

Eastwood, who spoke at the 2012 Republican convention — “that silly thing … talking to the chair” — urged people to “get over it.”

“What Trump is onto is he’s just saying what’s on his mind. And sometimes it’s not so good. And sometimes it’s . I mean, I can understand where he’s coming from, but I don’t always agree with it,” he said.

Eastwood said he wasn’t endorsing anyone for president. But asked to choose between Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton he said, “I’d have to go for Trump . you know, ‘cause she’s declared that she’s gonna follow in Obama’s footsteps. There’s been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle.”

Eastwood’s film “Sully” — about Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the airline pilot who became a national hero when he safely landed a US Airways plane on the Hudson River off Manhattan in 2009 — opens in September.

Now are we going to have to hear who each actor/actress/musicians, etc. endorsed?

  2. Ikefromeli says:

Charles Manson and the vile Westboro Church are not PC, should we consider voting for them?

Clint Eastwood was and is his own man. Kind of reminds me of Trump. Trump is exactly who we need. It seems to me he can work with China and Russia better than someone who accused them of hacking into her emails.

Seems? Seems what, based on what? That both play “pretend” tough guys on the big and little screen. You want Dirty Harry go rent it. The world is a serious place, for serious thinkers…..not folks who have spent their lives pretending.

There is a reason why in entertainment there is device called the suspension of disbelief–The term suspension of disbelief or willing suspension of disbelief has been defined as a willingness to suspend one’s critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment.

      So, enjoy the theater….

Maybe you might seeking some professional help for your hate and anger management problems.
Your copy and past dissertations are over the top. Please keep it to less than 1000 words. Pretty ridiculous.

I hate ignorance and get angry with stupid people. Guess who I am talking about Les?

How are you going to develop diplomacy when you insult leaders of other countries and conduct regime changes without a succession plan? Even Obama admitted it was a mistake to leave Libya. What was he thinking. How could he and crooked Hillary be proud of that? How could you be proud of that?

Trump is exactly who we need. What exactly is that? I can see people’s dissatisfaction with Washington because I count myself as one of them but everything that Trump has said is a “shake my head” moment. Things are not exactly bright on the other side either so I’m greatly disappointed with this year’s election. BTW, not voting is also a right. It should tell Washington of the ever expanding divide between the haves and have nots.

Eastwood thinks we should “get over” Trump’s insulting behavior (in full interview). OK, then Eastwood has to “get over” that I will not be going to any of his movies. Sorry Hanks and Gunn!

President Obama’s rating is at 54% so he is definitely not a failure according to the majority.

Bill says: “She served on the board of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.”
The facts are: Yes, she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart board of directors for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Have your fun, Say what you will about Trump but at the very least he provides jobs and pays taxes in Hawaii. What has Crooked Hillary done for Hawaii? What will Crooked Hillary do for you in Hawaii? What will Crooked Hillary supporters do for you except run off at the mouth? Nothing.
