Flood advisories lifted, but chance of heavy rain lingers
Muggy conditions and the chance of heavy rain continues through Monday as remnants of former Tropical Storm Howard linger over the islands.
The entire state is under a flash flood watch until Monday afternoon.
Heavy rains over Oahu’s North Shore and Maui near Kahului eased and flood advisories issued earlier have expired.
“The combination of daytime heating and increasing moistures may cause for a few thunderstorms to form around the area today mainly this afternoon,” the weather service said.
Areas where the ground is already saturated with water from last week’s rains could flood again, forecasters said.
Rains are expected to be spotty, with some areas getting heavy showers and other areas getting only light rain.

A high surf advisory has also been issued for the east-facing shores of Kauai and Oahu.
The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
Surf is expected to be 6 to 9-feet along the east shores.
The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for cloudy skies with showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Winds are from the south at 10 to 15 mph.
Tradewinds should start to return Monday.
