Rain, humidity to stick around as Tropical Storm Ivette weakens
Tropical Storm Ivette continues to weaken as it moves toward the islands and could bring an increase in humidity and rains Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, a new tropical storm formed overnight and is threatening Baja California with strong winds and heavy rains, before it is expected to turn northwest into the East Pacific.
At 11 a.m., Ivette was 1,065 miles east of Hilo heading west-northwest at 10 mph. The storm had sustained winds of 40 mph and is expected to weaken to a tropical depression after it crosses into the Central Pacific today or tonight.
What ever is left of Ivette is likely to move near the islands Wednesday or Thursday, bringing more muggy weather and an increased chance of showers.
At 2 p.m., Tropical Storm Javier was generating strong winds along the southwest coast of Mexico.
A tropical storm warning is posted for the southern part of the Baja California penninsula from La Paz southward and westward to Santa Fe, including Cabo San Lucas. A tropical storm watch is in effect for Baja California from north of Santa Fe to Cabo San Lucas.
