Alleged Waikiki pimp indicted by grand jury in beating of prostitute

COURTESY HONOLULU POLICE DEPARTMENT

Demarion Keyes

A 28-year-old Waikiki man was indicted by an Oahu grand jury Friday for allegedly beating a prostitute because she wanted to leave her pimp.

Demarion Keyes, of a Lewers Street address, will be arraigned next week in Circuit Court on first-degree assault, sex trafficking and kidnapping charges.

He is being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post bond of $500,000.

Keyes was arrested at the Honolulu Airport Monday trying to flee the islands.

According to a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court last week, the victim suffered fractures and internal bleeding.

The affidavit said Keyes forced the woman into a taxicab at Kalakaua and Seaside avenues at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect took the woman to his home and dragged her into his apartment, telling her she was never going to stop working for him and that he would beat her if she tried to leave, the affidavit said.

Keyes allegedly punched, slapped and choked the woman, and struck her with a belt, the affidavit said. The woman told police she lost consciousness during the beating.

The victim fled the apartment when the suspect left the room to look for a bat.

The victim’s mother called police the next day, saying Keyes was at the airport, trying to leave the state.

The victim told police she was a prostitute and had been working for Keyes for 18 months. She said Keyes beat her because she wanted out of prostitution.

I work part-time in Waikiki and have seen a growing number of these “managers” on the streets with their bling and threatening stares and screams. The are from LA and do go back and forth. I wish we could see a prosecutorial crackdown on these people.

    • Pocho says:

Scary! Just think if this guy yapped away with his jive on the continent he’d probably be 6′ under then. Lucky in live in Hawaii! Black Lives Matta

    • HRS134 says:

What’s the name of you “manager”?

    • butinski says:

Agree completely. Many of the Waikiki problems of pimping, robbery and assaults seems to be caused by the mainland transplant low life who are black. Crack down on them and profile them as we do other suspected terrorists. We don’t need those types in Hawaii.

    • bombay2101 says:

By “managers” I suppose you mean black men, although you can’t say it. Well, you are right, and they are appearing downtown. Locals will look, but blacks intimidate. I have been told about several incidents from women who work downtown that involve these black men making disrespectful comments and engaging in intimidation. This isn’t Detroit or LA. Hopefully they will tire of not being the preferred minority and leave.
Obama put us on their radar.

He lucky he got arrested by HPD that have the Aloha in them. Black Lives Matter have no business here in the islands unless they don’t want one of their own in the Slammers!

You’s inna beeg heep a trouble, BOY?

  11. KamIIIman says:

This girl deserves a lot of credit fighting for her life and leaving him. The pimps have these girls attached to them with fear emotions etc.. Hopefully others will read this and get away

agree. In North Dakota, our Mandan warriors would protect their families and women from these predators. Out here, no one seems able to deal with the problem I guess.

      • Tita Girl says:

allie, Criminal activity is everywhere, not just here. The article I’ve linked to is revealing. And while you claim “…no one seems able to deal with the problem …”, according to this article ” The federal government often declines to prosecute crimes on Native American land. In 2011 alone, the Justice Department filed charges in only about half of murder cases and 35 percent of sexual assault cases on reservations nationwide.”
I’m guessing Dustin Morsette isn’t one of the Mandan warriors….more like a pimp. “…Dustin Morsette, a then-20- year-old MHA Nation member, and a friend had recruited girls and boys—some as young as 12—into a criminal street gang…” “Morsette would invite teenagers to parties, then ply them with alcohol and drugs. One 15-year-old girl, who told investigators she was anally raped by Morsette, was asked if she would like to be the leader of the women in the gang. She said yes, and Morsette instructed her that she had to make him $200 a week. When she told him that was impossible, as she didn’t have a job, he told her to “go sell herself.” He then began setting up appointments for her with men who were to be charged $300 for sex. Another victim, an adult female, told investigators that on multiple occasions she had been sold for sex at the 4 Bears Casino. She testified that Morsette had raped her and coerced her into prostitution by threatening further physical abuse. He also threatened to send nude pictures of her to her family if she did not comply.”

This guy is like a rabid animal and needs to be put down. Normal human beings don’t behave like that. I wonder if he ever thinks about his actions, or how he was raised. How do people get like that? He should be studied – then put down, cruelly.

  13. Ronin006 says:

The reporters who write these stories need to prove read what they write. The title says “Alleged Waikiki pimp indicted by grand jury in beating of prostitute” whereas the story says the guy was indicted for “allegedly beating a prostitute.” So what is it? Is it being alleged that he is a pimp or that he allegedly beat a prostitute? Inquisitive minds want to know.

Wish the laws would change to mandate violent criminals to become mandatory organs donors as partial restitution to society. This lowlife should be on that list. Thousands of ill citizens DIE every single year waiting for an organ only to never receive one.
