Oregon woman apparently drowns while scuba diving off Kauai
A 59-year-old Oregon woman died today after becoming distressed while scuba diving off Poipu, Kauai police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was diving with a tour group at about 9:30 a.m., police said. She was brought to the tour boat unresponsive and others performed CPR as the boat returned to Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor.
Firefighters continued CPR and paramedics took her to Wilcox Hospital where she died.
An autopsy was pending. This was Kauai’s ninth drowning this year.

These ocean activities must be regulated. Too many of these companies do not have sufficient personnel to ensure safety for their customers.
How many know that these people sign a waiver absolving the company of any liability? However, I hope the USCG investigate this drowning and state that lack of personnel was a major factor. Hence, a lawsuit for negligence.
