PHOENIX » A Hispanic Donald Trump supporter’s assertion that without Trump there could one day be “taco trucks on every corner” in the U.S. stirred ridicule, not to mention hunger, across the internet today.

Hundreds of tweets with the hashtag “taco trucks on every corner” popped up on Twitter, most of them from people salivating for the tortilla-wrapped food.

The social media onslaught was in reaction to a Thursday night interview on MSNBC with Latinos for Trump founder Marco Gutierrez, who said the Mexican culture is “dominant” and “imposing” before issuing his taco warning.

The opportunity to poke fun at Gutierrez’s remarks was too hard for many to pass up. Celebrities such as actors Patton Oswalt and Eva Longoria Baston jokingly referenced the hashtag in tweets. Various memes with statements such as “Election day is now officially Taco Tuesday” were also circulating.

Some groups drove the taco-truck comment further with real trucks.

A coalition of progressive Nevada advocacy groups offered free tacos Thursday while holding a press conference outside Republican Congressman Joe Heck’s office in Las Vegas.

The Arizona Democratic Party put the phrase up on the marquee of its building in mid-town Phoenix. Party officials also said there would be a taco truck on the property Saturday.

With several predominantly Latino neighborhoods, Phoenix is a city used to seeing taco trucks on the corner. In the wake of Gutierrez’s comments, Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego decided to patronize one of them.

The Democrat posted a photo to his personal Twitter account of him ordering three carne asada tacos from his favorite taco truck for lunch today. The picture was accompanied by the tweet “about to assert my cultural dominance.” It has garnered hundreds of likes.

“I was just trying to bring some levity to it,” Gallego said. “Good food is good food and it will unite people whether they are Democrats or Republicans.”

OMG, taco trucks coming! Wait—isn’t that a good thing? Mexican food in AZ is actually quite good.

A good promo by a taco truck would be to give out free taquitos, call them “Trumpquitos.” I’m sure a few would be tossed to the ground and stepped on. But most will be eaten; why waste food? Besides, no one takes that Trump guy too seriously, do they?

  2. cajaybird says:

“Nobody takes Trump seriously, do they?” Only those who are concerned about our open borders, the expanding racial divide, the flat salaries, rising healthcare costs, the lack of a foreign policy, ISIS, a military in shambles, a bloated federal government, and veterans without adequate access to healthcare. Yeah, many take Trump seriously, unless you’re happy with the way things are going.

    • keaukaha says:

Problem is he doesn’t take himself seriously. He flip flops all over the place and even his closest advisors are having a serious problem of reining him in. Not much you can do once the Chump has made up his mind to do whatever in the hell that he wants to.

    • MillionMonkeys says:

You take Trump so seriously that you ignore the fact that he flip-flops every week, even the same day, as on his Mex-AZ day?

Take seriously a grown man who makes fun of handicapped people?

Take seriously a public figure who gets in a futile tiff with the parents of a slain soldier. That’s a fight NOBODY can win, and that’s why smart public figures never do that.

Take seriously a draft dodger who says he knows more about fighting terrorism than all the generals and intelligence experts? Honestly, didn’t you laugh (or shudder) when you heard that?

Take seriously a “successful businessman” who takes advantage of bankruptcy loopholes to build his wealth?

Take seriously a guy who starts blaming the “rigged system” 3 months before the election?

Take seriously a guy who hides his tax returns? If he’s so successful, don’t you think he’d be showing off his figures? And no, the “audit” is a false excuse, there’s no rule against releasing them.

Before betting all your marbles on this guy, don’t you want to know more about him? Burying your head in the sand is an unwise life choice. Fix your life, don’t allow a salesman to con you into buying something you’ll regret as soon as he’s turned the corner.

We, informed, people know all about hiLIARy from her proven deceit to her serious hidden Health issue…not good for America.

      • DPK says:

Monkey: do your homework. Mr. Trump didn’t dodge the draft. He was classified 4F and also had a high draft lottery number. Mr. Clinton used his political connections to defer him long enough to get a high draft number.

        • Ikefromeli says:

His high draft lottery number doesn’t correspond with purported physical ailment. Just like his transfer from Fordham to Penn ( he did not graduate from Wharton) as he claims, there was a large donation to the school, curiously just at the same time–strings were pulled.

        • klastri says:

Mr. Trump dodged the draft. He fabricated a medical condition with his feet, that he can’t even remember now. He’s a coward.

        • kk808 says:

I didn’t know you could fabricate a foot ailment to avoid the draft…I guess that was my achilles heel.

        • butinski says:

Klastri. Trump a coward? You mean like the all black Running 92nd in WW2.? Famous for running so fast away from battle in Italy.

        • klastri says:

butinski – You can obfuscate the facts any way you choose. Trump is a coward.

      • corndog1 says:

Do you take serious a woman that flips her stance on trade agreements, gay marriage, raising payroll taxes, the gulf war. Well you get the picture, I could go on and on with this woman.

Take serious a woman that tells the family of four Americans that their family members were killed because of a video on you tube.

Take serious a woman that knows all about dodging, sniper bullets that is, she is so good at it that she is better than any General or intelligence officer. She can stand up, get some flowers, and take a nice stroll to the waiting cars, not like the Generals that had to crawl for their live.

Take serious a Politician that takes advantage of 501(c) taxes codes so she can take millions upon millions of dollars into a foundation so she can pay herself and her family million upon millions of dollars. Side note here, neither is illegal, just that hers is a pay to play thing.

Take serious a not so successful politician that had the primaries rigged in her favor.

Take serious a woman that not only tried to hide her work related emails, but then tried to have them deleted, bleach bit erased, electronic devises smashed with hammers, etc.

Don’t bet your marbles on this woman, like millionmonkeys says, burying your head in the sand is an unwise life choice.

  3. klastri says:

I’m not sure why this is big news. Mr. Gutierrez is no more of a buffoon or imbecile than Mr. Trump’s other supporters.

    Stranger than fiction.

    • sarge22 says:

It’s not. The big news is the release of more Classified emails from the pant suit lady with brain damage.

      • keaukaha says:

That is the only argument that you have humped on. The Chump has no plan which has become very evident over the last few days. It is as if the only people that are excited with the Chump are his fellow kindergarteners. He has no real plan and for his devout followers it is very sad. His dream if you can Cali it that has only distanced himself from the true objectives

        • sarge22 says:

Donald is doing fine. There are a few more problems for lying crooked HiLIARy. Where’s Vince Foster? Clinton Cash.IRS.Whitewater.Clinton Foundation.Benghazi, four men died and HiLIARy lied.Husband a rapist.Brain damage.Blood thinners. Lock her up.

        • klastri says:

          sarge22 – Have you had a stroke?

        • Keonigohan says:

Klastri…what a terrible thing to say.

      • btaim says:

Lacking in sufficient arguments in favor of Trump, you resort to criticizing the clothing of his opponent. All you do is bolster my resolve to vote for anyone other than Trump.

Really? The AP is digging pretty deep now. What’s the next Trump hit piece? “Trump supporter’s dog pees on a Hillary for president lawn sign” Meanwhile Dr. Evil is so confused by trying to keep track of her lies that she’s not sure what day of the week it is. Are we quite sure we want Hillary with her finger on the nuke button?

  8. justmyview371 says:

How many of these big-mouth celebrities and politicians actually ever eat at taco trucks? Not many I bet until now and they will only go for the photo op.

  9. bsdetection says:

Mr. “Taco Trucks On Every Corner” and Latinos for Trump founder Marco Gutierrez is a real estate scam artist who has declared bankruptcy 14 times. Too bad Trump University was shut down; he could have been a full professor.
