In this photo provided by ABC, Cheryl Burke, left, and Ryan Lochte, center, appear on “Dancing with the Stars,” competition that begins with the two-hour season premiere live tonight on the ABC Television Network.

LOS ANGELES » Ryan Lochte says he feels “a little hurt” after two men were arrested for allegedly rushing the stage following his performance on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The two men, wearing anti-Lochte T-shirts, were arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing, Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Mike Lopez said.

They had rushed the stage while Lochte was getting his scores from judge Carrie Ann Inaba for his debut performance during tonight’s live installment of the celebrity ballroom dance competition.

“Hey, back off,” Inaba said as the altercation was occurring off screen.

When the show returned, “Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron explained they were interrupted by “a little incident” and thanked the ABC series’ security team “for staying in shape.”

The two men were detained by security until police arrived to take them into custody, Los Angeles police spokesman Mike Lopez said. He did not have the men’s names.

No one was injured or listed as a victim in the incident, Lopez said.

The swimmer told Bergeron that “so many feelings are going through my head right now.” Lochte added that he was “a little hurt, but I came out here. I wanted to do something I’m completely not comfortable with, and I did.”

ABC did not immediately return messages seeking comment about the incident.

During the episode, the Olympic medalist performed a foxtrot routine with professional partner Cheryl Burke to “Call Me Irresponsible.” They received a combined score from the judges of 24 out of 40.

Lochte and teammates have seen scorn from some since they were involved in an early-morning drunken encounter during the Olympics last month at a gas station in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They later claimed they were threatened and robbed. United States team officials banned Lochte for 10 months, requiring him to forfeit $100,000 in bonuses and miss the 2017 world championships.

Poor kid, gonna take awhile before the public take him seriously!

  2. btaim says:

    “Call Me Irresponsible.” Indeed.

  3. lokela says:

There will always be haters in this world. He didn’t help his cause by appearing in public right after his incident. I never really cared for him from the past olympics.

    • Marauders_1959 says:

Money and his need for the “spotlight” .. made him reappear in public right after LYING through his teeth.

      • cojef says:

Well he does what comes naturally to any cultured liberal ideolog who believe like Hillary that if you lie often enough people will accept you. The Clintons have been doing it all their lives and see where it got them, in politics, their private charitable foundation which is almost like the mint, it just seems to generate donations from whatever sources. Rags to riches the easy way, lie! Rember what she said when they left the White House, broke and poorer than a church mouse. They worth over hundreds of million dollars.

  4. Ronin006 says:

Why did ABC allow this jerk to participate in this show?

  5. WalkoffBalk says:

All he wants to do is dance, dance, dance.

  6. Tita Girl says:

Shame on ABC for allowing the liar to participate in any of their programs.

    WOW!! There iS another trump!!

  8. ezridah says:

Are you sure the incident wasn’t exaggerated? They might have been overly excited….

  9. duna6430 says:

Wild conspiracy theory: The guys were hired by Lochte (or ABC) to create sensational headlines and propel him past the negative attitude America has against this idiot. This is NO KID…to hear him say that his heart was ‘torn to shreds’…

  10. cojef says:

After the Vist Nam War, Americans visiting SouthEast Asia were greeted with “Ugly Americans Go Home”. Instead of keeping a low profile till it blows over, he chose to expose himself as if to say, “in your eye”! His behavior since has not helped his profile, instead detracting!

Welcome to the “Real World” banana head!

  12. famlb says:

He also said, “You know, at that moment, I was really heartbroken,” he said. “My heart just sunk. It felt like somebody just ripped it apart.”

    Overboard hyperbole?

    Grow up.

  13. CriticalReader says:

I just feel terrible for Lochte. It is our duty as Americans to ensure his feelings are healed. SHAME on everyone for continuing to talk about that unfortunate incident so far from our border. We need to just forget and forgive the lying in that interview on NBC, and lying to the police, and public drunkeness, and vandalism, and bagging on his teammates to leave them exposed to the Brazilian police, and for lying about having a gun held to his temple, and for lying to his mother so that she perpetuated the lie to us, and for embarrassing the US Olympic Team, and for thereby embarrassing America. Bringing thoose things up again, protesting against his being highlighted as a popular American celebrity, and writing the horrible comments about his lying and embarrassing so many people is cruel and insensitive to his feelings, which need to be protected at all costs because he is IMPORTANT.

    • Masami says:

That is a “gold medal” post!

    • keight says:

      1. No security cameras showed him entering the bathroom.
      2. No damage to mirror and soap dispenser in bathroom as reported = no vandalism
      3. Security cameras showed him damaging poster but security guard did pull out his gun (even if not pointed to head).
      4. Paying $50 for a poster with no estimate of actual damages technically could be robbery.

  14. wrightj says:

He should change his name, put on some makeup, then nobody will know who he is.

  15. fairgame947 says:

You’ve sort of brought this on yourself Ryan. Just grin and bear it.

  16. ready2go says:

As they say, “welcome to the real world”.

  17. KamIIIman says:

Many people don’t want someone to learn from their mistakes and move on. Maybe they themselves don’t have a clue how to move on from their unfortunate events.

  18. st1d says:

now he knows how brazilians feel after being falsely accused of robbery and assault.

for abc, they might check to see if whitey bulger is available for next season.

  19. AhiPoke says:

Why am I not amazed by all of the perfect people posting on this story? Yes, what he did in RIO was stupid but I’ve done a few things I’m not proud of as well.

    • Sandys says:

Ahi, great comment, better than what the perfect people who are posting.

      • Masami says:

I’d probably agree with both of you if he just told one lie but as CriticalReader posted above it was a bunch of lies, vandalism, leaving his teammates “out to dry” while he was safe in the States, making the USA look like a bunch of idiots, etc….

For him now to feel “hurt”, well he shoulda thought about the consequences for CONTINUING the sham. Everyone does “stupid” things growing up but he’s 32 years old and it appears he hasn’t grown up yet?

    • primo1 says:

I can honestly say I’ve never done anything as stupid as Lochte.

  20. environmental_lady says:

The best way to protest is to boycott the show. If ratings plunged as a result, then the show executives would realize that they made a mistake to include him in the dance.

  21. bumbye says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if DTWTS is OK with it. They’ve been playing it (Lochte’s situation) up too. Why else would they make him dance to “Call Me Irresponsible”?
