Texas man, 66, dies while snorkeling off Kauai’s Makua Beach
A 66-year-old visitor died Wednesday while snorkeling in waters off Kauai’s Makua Beach, also known as Tunnels.
The visitor was identified today as James McMahon of Texas, according to the Kauai Police Department.
At about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said lifeguards located McMahon, who was unresponsive, in waters roughly 300 yards from the shoreline. He was brought to shore where lifeguards, firefighters and paramedics administered CPR to no avail.
Police said McMahon was transported to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the exact cause of death.

TV news says we have one tourist die a day in Hawaii Nei……I find that hard to believe…..let me Google this and I’ll get back to you…….
OK….it’s on the average per Civil Beat, one visitor per week……a dubious distinction…….
The tourist “apparently” died? Either he died or he didn’t.
Mostly snorkel drownings, but the state drowning prevention plan and task force ignores it.
