Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump reacts to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during the second presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis, today.

NEW YORK » CJ McCollum, Jamal Crawford and Jacob Tamme are among current and former professional athletes on social media to criticize Donald Trump’s characterization of his predatory, sexual comments about women from a 2005 video as “locker room talk.”

Trump’s campaign described his remarks as “locker room banter” in a statement Saturday, and the Republican presidential nominee repeated the line multiple times Sunday during the presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.

In the tape, obtained by The Washington Post and NBC News, Trump describes trying to have sex with a married woman and brags about women letting him kiss and grab them because he is famous.

“When you’re a star they let you do it,” Trump says. “You can do anything.”

He adds seconds later, “Grab them by the p——. You can do anything.”

“I haven’t heard that one in any locker rooms,” McCollum wrote on Twitter in a response to a tweet from Crawford. McCollum plays for the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and Crawford plays for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Tamme, a tight end with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, asked that Trump “please stop saying ‘locker room talk,’” adding that “it’s not normal. And even if it were normal, it’s not right.”

Dodgers pitcher Brett Anderson , Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley and retired NFL players Donte Stallworth and Chris Kluwe offered similar condemnations.

Big deal. Video is 12 years old. Find something more current. People seem to be so desperate these days. Keep grabbing for straws. 🙁

    • gmejk says:

Why not? That’s why candidates have released back taxes because voters deem them as relevant. What if a candidate had murdered someone 12 years ago? Irrelevant? Old news?

      • MillionMonkeys says:

Murder, even 12 years ago, should count.

Unless you’re the Donald, then you say “I’m a changed man,” and all your Trump fans say “Hooray!” At least the under-educated ones would.

        • mokebla says:

Excuse me, the pot calling the kettle black! Hillary freed a child rapist and laughed about and destroy this young girls life till today and thinks she above the LAW! People needs too wake up and quit been politically correct. Bill Clinton did worse on our dime and his wife made sure everything was swept under the rug! Everyone shall know the truth cause the one who gets in office going too make it bitter or better. It’s either Politics all over again with big government or making this country great again, every vote count unless you want more big government!

      • mokebla says:

You show proof that you can’t change or teach stup$d, why not! Typical liberal~

        • Adobo_bobo says:

I would but you beat me to it.

When WAS this country great (if it isn’t already)?

          So what’s a Typical Conservative?

          aloha,
          A “Typical liberal”

        Shut about about tax returns.

      • HRS134 says:

Apples and oranges. A private conversation is nothing like a tax return. The tax returns show that the candidates have been complying with a legal requirement. We don’t know the exact context of the conversation. What happen before he made those statements? I’m in no way defending or condoning what was said. What I will say is that if the 12 year old video is all they got, then they better step it up a bit. Clinton has been doing and saying stuff that got Americans killed or put American lives in serious danger. Not to mention the numerous incidents where she mishandled classified and/or sensitive information. She’s no where near qualified to be trusted with our government’s secrets.

Yes, he was just a bright eyed lad of 59 at the time.

HRS134. What about insulting McCain for being captured and being tortured. What about mimicking the crippled reporter, what about insulting the Mother of the dead Army Captain who died protecting draft dodgers like Trump, what about insulting the Judge born in Indiana to Mexican parents just because he did not side with Trump, what about insulting Miss Universe for bein fat, and oh yeah what about his employee who accused him of rape, and another oh yeah, what about his 1st wife accusing him of rape in the divorce proceedings. This that current enough for you?

  3. Ikefromeli says:

First, this assumption that all athletes speak that way is entirely wrong. I went to college on a football scholarship and I can almost say, categorically, most everyone does NOT speak that way. Two, what does Trump know about a a college locker room–having not played a sport in college??

Again, he conflates himself with something he wishes he was more aligned with…..sad.

    • MillionMonkeys says:

You know Trump’s the best at everything. He knows more than the generals. He’s the best guy to fix the economy because he’s a thousand-aire. He woulda been an All-American college athlete—if not for his small hands. Aww….

    • kiragirl says:

He was just making it that boys talk amongst boys. Could have been in a bar, the 19th hole, the gym or any other place guys congregate.

    • HawaiiCheeseBall says:

Agree, in our locker room if you bragged about groping someone’s sister or girlfriend you would find yourself on the ground. That kind of talk is not acceptable. Part of being a man is you protect women from predators. Every team had a couple of creeps, but we always let them know that in appropriate actions had consequences. Trump is basically a sissy, talks all tough about married women and grabbing private parts with the Hollywood types. I doubt he ever tried that stuff with the wife of a man who would not hesitate to make him understand the errors of his ways.

  4. Waterman2 says:

Perhaps he should have said bar room talk ? Boys will be boys . I know what we sometimes say , and it isn’t always nice , but it is mostly just banter. Not something I would ever hold over another’s head.

  5. google says:

real donald j. trump! dirty old man!

  6. Pocho says:

Geez, I’d like to know what they thought of JFK and Clinton. Men who did the “walk”. Their legacy over rid their womanizing ways. Where’s the Women’s Group on this and since they are so mum about it my guess is that Woman don’t care about being used but if they like you you can get away doing what you want with them. TheDonald spoke the truth on the HOT MIKE! lol

    • mokebla says:

Well said Poncho, all these posters must be part of the party horns and want to be just like their leaders and get away with their evil endeavors.

    • Usagi336 says:

@ pocho – exactly. I think using a cigar the way Bill did is disrespectful but it made him more of a hero to some. Everybody has things they said in private that would make others cringe if they heard it.

  7. kaeleku says:

I wonder what women that goes to male stripper shows like “CHIPENDALES” say while the acts are going on.

OH, THEY HAVE A NICE TAN??????????

  8. ready2go says:

The American people want and deserve the best leadership possible. No one’s perfect, that’s for sure but we need a President who is capable of leading our Country.

  9. HAJAA1 says:

    Yeah, probably gay athletes.

    • cajaybird says:

Better get those athletes a “safe place”. Let’s see how important this issue will be to the next family who experiences a terror attack from an unvetted or home grown terrorist.

  10. Bumby says:

SA how come no comments on Clinton and her comments to Wall Street Bankers and what she says to them and the opposite she says to the public. Expand on that again please.

    • MillionMonkeys says:

Because if you actually read a couple of articles, you can see that Clinton didn’t say anything horrible or criminal. If you have poor reading and thinking skills, you are being mislead by the poor writing and cheap-shot inaccurate headlines of some biased media source.

      Repeat: READ THE ARTICLE.

    • cajaybird says:

Wall St. selected Hillary long before the primaries. Bernie was an unexpected competitor, but the DNC rigged the system against him. The Republicans, on the other hand, saw 2 dozen “hopefuls” see the opportunity to beat a weak Dem candidate, but in the process of forming a circular fire squad, eliminated the “mainstream” candidates. Now it is a bit ironic to hear many of the Republicans who supported the “competitive Primary process”, are now abandoning the winner of the primaries. So before you break open the champagne bottles for Hillary, consider the impact her policies will have on Hawaii. The email leaks confirmed (for anyone who doesn’t pay attention to such matters, which is most voters), that Hillary wants open borders, much like one of her biggest supporters, George Soros. So I ask, does Hawaii currently have a “homeless” problem? Well consider where any non-citizen would immigrate to if they could pick any State in the union. And that’s only one issue. How about taxes? What would an increase do for business owners? You already have Rail t pay for. Is Hawaii ready for a socialist utopia?

  11. justmyview371 says:

This comment by Trump had nothing to do with professional athletes and it was not an invitation for them to jump into political debates. It had to do with ordinary people. Professional athletes are acting disgracefully getting into political debates, racial politics, and other topics not germane to their oprofessios. They are abusing their professios the same way Hollywood stars/performers are doing more and more attempting to influence the ordinary man. This is an abusive.

    • cajaybird says:

IRT Justmyview: Agree. Plus the criminal record of pro athletes is nothing to be proud of. And why people look up to Hollywood is a sign that most voters are uninformed. Hollywood receives exceptional tax breaks. It is not surprising that they are among the biggest donors to Hillary’s campaign. Voter’s should ask themselves, does my business receive special tax breaks? Does my employer receive special tax breaks? I believe it is disingenuous when and actor who makes 10 million a year believe business owners aren’t paying their “fair share”. In my opinion, Hollywood isn’t paying its “fair share”. Voters…pay attention.

    • klastri says:

You’re saying that someone who is successful can’t get into this debate, but you can?

You always use such sound logic! Great grammar too!

  12. st1d says:

athletes jumping into the political ring claiming that “locker room” banter and antics don’t happen?

    on the contrary:

  13. Mana07 says:

Oh Yes. Most professional athletes are such moral, clean mouthed, upstanding young men who would never dream of saying anything derogatory about women in the locker room. PLEASE!!

  14. klastri says:

Obviously, Mr. Trump is lying. He’s relying on the fact that his supporters either mirror his loathsome personality or haven’t been athletes. That is not how adult men talk – except for Mr. Trump and his followers.

It’s how Mr. Trump talks of course, but emotionally, he’s a 13 year old imbecile and bully that never grew up.

yes, grown men do speak and act inappropriately.

don’t forget, dan inouye, who removed a ring from a dead woman and put it on as a souvenir only to have karma return the ring to the dead woman along with his right arm. and, don’t forget inouye running his hand up his barber’s legs looking for a happy ending.

oh, that’s right, if you are a gruber democrat voter, you’ve forgotten about inouye’s deplorable actions.

  16. smehara says:

Never knew professional athletes were so sensitive – geez.

  17. fiveo says:

When you are a man who has money and power, you will have throngs of women flocking to you and throwing themselves at you.
What Donald was saying more than 11 years ago is the reality of how things are. Ask any rock star, musician, or professional athletes about the opportunities presented to them
by women who want to be with them and who will allow them to do pretty much anything. Yes, not all men talk about women in crude ways but it is not uncommon for many to do so.
Does it make them bad or evil and beyond redemption as some would want you to believe. I do not think so. People do evolve and behaviors do change over time.
Can anyone really claim that they have always acted and talked and behaved properly all their lives.
As a wise man said some time ago, Let you who is without sin, cast the first stone.
What Donald said was crude and wrong. Much of it I suspect was him kind of boasting of him as a alpha male who women found attractive and therefore
were willing to be receptive to his advances, proper or not.

    • mctruck says:

the donald has been consistent. From beginning to present in actions and words. If you don’t know these facts then time to retire and just read.

      • mctruck says:

By the way, the Apprentice crew comes foward today to reveal that they’ve got even more gross documentation of Trump’s action’s and verbal vulgarity on hold which they will decide on whether to release them or not.

    • mctruck says:

And again, like I expressed myself to another person who thinks like you; “you don’t speak for me, speak for yourself.”

  18. jkjones says:

Cant stand premadona pro athletes. They are like the far left celebrities that run in a different universe. They should just shut up no one cares about their opinion. They should talk. Biggest abusers of women.

  19. Ronin006 says:

OK, so a few athletes have come forward to take issue with what Trump said about “locker room talk.” That does not mean it does not happen. I have been in locker rooms and other places where men-only gather and have heard many guys bragging about their sexual prowess in very graphic ways. It happens quite frequently. Most guys hearing it dismiss it as fantasy, but such talk does happen. We, of course, will not hear from them to say what Trump said actually happens quite often because some of them could lose their endorsements.
