Kaimuki gastropub sold
Avenue’s Bar + Eatery has been sold to Tamura Enterprises Inc., and will become The Edge by Tamura’s.
The Edge will be a bar serving wines and cocktails and local favorite foods.
Owner Glenn Tamura intends to use the location to make continued impact on the Hawaii food and beverage scene according to Jo McGarry, restaurant specialist and real estate advisor, who brokered the deal.
Terms were not disclosed.
The location, at 3605 Waialae Ave., was sold by chef and restaurateur Kevin Hanney, who previously operated Salt Kitchen & Tasting Bar in the space. Chef Lee Anne Wong, Hanney’s partner in Koko Head Cafe, briefly ran Hale Ohuna, another restaurant concept, in the space.

Location sucks but good luck
Glenn Tamura has the business background to make it succeed. Just serve his poke from his nearby store and they will come. Good Luck Glenn! I’ll be there whenever I come in from Maui.
Too bad Glenn is such a pos! I would never visit any of his businesses!
location sucks, really? which part? there’s tons of parking, it’s a great area for food and desserts, and there isn’t too much traffic
parking availability depends on the day of the week and
the time of day/night.
the lower parking has a service and the upper lot
uses coin meters.
Pgkemp why do you feel the location is bad? Thanks.
Salt was an outstanding restaurant and packed every time I went there. Hope this brings back the magic.
You probably only went on a Friday or Saturday. The other days was pretty empty, hence the closing of its doors. Good food, but small portions and pricey.
Why is this headline news? Must be slow news day or exposure for Jo Mcgarry. Should just be an item in business section.
yep
Because any restaurant or place one can stuff their face here in Hawaii is news, regardless of how mediocre or “amazing” it is.
Too many overrated places in HNL by low expectation people that don’t know any better.
And what makes you so qualified to know better …Watching the Food Network? You’re a “world traveler?” How do you the places you’ve dined at are not overrated as well? Because someone ELSE said so? Lol
“Lol” after one’s own comment. A sign of feeble simple mindedness.
You probably give Zippy’s the highest ratings on Yelp, right?
Maybe, because like me, he knew better than to eat at Genki Sushi, which you probably rated a premium Japanese restaurant.
Btw shopoholic did you know that “the best of” ballots contain only establishments that advertise with the Star Advertiser. I mean when the Star Advertiser’s best Mexican food place is Taco Bell how legit is that?
Because SA is a legit paper?
Bobby Curran with the play by play.
Funny. Bobby and Jo.
What no beer?????????????
What is a “gastropub” except a made up word to entice the gastrodummies?
