Man charged in knife-point robbery at Waipahu restaurant

Prosecutors charged a 21-year-old Waianae man for allegedly threatening a cashier with a knife during a robbery at a Waipahu restaurant this summer.

Isaiah T.K. Feliciano Hoopai is charged with first-degree robbery and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

He was scheduled to appear at District Court this morning.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 17, police said Feliciano Hoopai entered Filipino Express Restaurant on Pupupani Street and threatened the cashier, 35, with a knife.

He allegedly took her property and fled in a black sports utility vehicle.

On Wednesday, officers of the District 8 Crime Reduction Unit located him in Waianae and arrested him.

Feliciano Hoopai also was charged in a separate abuse case involving an 18-year-old woman that occurred on Aug. 22, three days after the robbery.

Police said Feliciano Hoopai and the victim were arguing when he allegedly attempted to strangle her.

He is also charged with four counts of abuse of a household member. Bail for those charges is set at $8,000.

Feliciano Hoopai has a criminal record that includes second-degree robbery, second-degree escape and criminal property damage.

That’s what happens when judicial system has revolving door policy. Judges have job security.

How many people does this criminal have to hurt before he gets some serious jail time? Does he have to kill someone first? REALLY? Insanity continues…..

I can’t agree, but the cultural leaders/activists should look inward instead of complaining about “sacred” areas, they should be cultivating the future by teaching respect and ambition to drive the hearts and minds of these kids

The judicial system is set up to protect the guilty. Even though poor conviction records of the convicted suspect the person will never serve their sentence time in prison. The Judicial System will give them a lighter Sentence and thereby give the convicts more time to do unlawful activities.
