Kailua-Kona man facing charges in fatal shooting
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii » Big Island police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a man whose body was found alongside a highway last week.
An autopsy conducted on the body Friday determined 36-year-old Alanaokala Solomon Covington, of Kailua-Kona, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Police had discovered Covington while acting on an anonymous tip from Oct. 16 about a possible killing.
The suspect in Covington’s death was taken into custody Saturday.
The 29-year-old Kailua-Kona man was jailed on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The case remains under investigation.
