Firefighters contain brush fire in Waianae

Firefighters contained a brush fire in Waianae Valley at dawn today after it burned approximately 30 acres.

The brush fire started at approximately noon Sunday near Piliuka Place and Kawiwi Way. Twenty-seven firefighters responded and the fire department’s Air 1 helicopter was deployed to conduct water drops.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
