Man arrested after allegedly attempting to run over woman with car

Police arrested a 37-year-old man after he allegedly attempted to run over a woman with a vehicle on the Leeward Coast.

Police said the suspect of no local address and the victim, a 33-year-old woman, who is an acquaintance of the suspect, were involved in an argument Thursday night. The argument intensified and the suspect attempted to run over the victim with a sports utility vehicle.

There were no injuries.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police arrested the 37-year-old man at the intersection of Liopolo Street and Farrington Highway in Maili on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, driving without a license and criminal contempt of court.
