Trial date set in Kauai murder case

KAUAI POLICE DEPARTMENT

Koma Texeira (left) and Clayton Kona (right) are being held on a murder charge in connection with the death of a Kekaha man.

A trial date has been set for two men charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a 34-year-old Kekaha man.

The trial for Koma Texeira and Clayton Kona is scheduled for Mar. 20 at Fifth Circuit Court before Judge Randal Valenciano. Both men were indicted by a grand jury Nov. 9 for murder involving Jon Togioka’s death.

Kona is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail on charges of an accomplice to second-degree murder and firearm-related charges.

Texeira is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail on charges of second-degree murder and firearm-related charges.

Police said a man walking along the shoreline near Port Allen Airport on Nov. 1 found Togioka’s body.
