Man who fired gun in argument with wife appears in court

A man appeared in court Monday after police said he fired a gun during an argument with his wife in Ewa Beach.

Fredrick Smith, 45, of Ewa Beach, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree reckless endangering. His bail was set at $20,000. He appeared for a probable cause hearing in Honolulu District Court on Monday and his case was committed to Circuit Court.

Smith’s wife, 48, told police she was arguing with her husband over a number in his phone when he said, “I got something for you,” and went to get a gun, according to a police affidavit filed in District Court. Smith pointed the gun at his wife before she ran downstairs, and he fired the gun at the wall, the affidavit said.

Smith’s wife grabbed her daughter and went to the house of an officer, who detained her husband until uniformed patrol arrived.

The woman told police her husband did not shoot the gun at her or in her direction.

The incident happened near Pohahawai Street about 2:35 p.m. Nov. 14.

….The woman told police her husband did not shoot the gun at her or in her direction.”

Wow, what a great wife for not ratting on her husband, who must’ve been shooting at the bad wall because he loves her so much. I’m sure he’ll keep that in mind the next time she catches him calling another woman and he’s angry and drunk. And what a great hubby. He’s a keeper!

Foolish woman. Continue to make excuses and his abuse will only escalate. Get Out Now while your daughter still has a mother.

  • If this guy keeps his mouth shut and gets a halfway decent attorney, he’ll get off. We don’t know the whole story and for all we know the lady is making this stuff up. For all we know she could be banging the officer who she went to. We should see how this plays out in court before passing judgment.

You think she made that up? The police investigated and that bullet hole in the wall didn’t appear by magic. People need to take domestic abuse seriously and the courts need to give abusers some serious prison time.
