Man dies after fall from Waikiki apartment roof

A 50-year-old man who was taken to a hospital after he fell off the roof of an apartment building in Waikiki has died.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Darin Tajiri of Ewa Beach. He died of head injuries due to blunt force trauma. The manner of death was classified as an accident.

At about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at a building located at 421 Seaside Ave, Emergency Medical Services and the Honolulu Fire Department said Tajiri fell 20 feet to the ground from the second-story roof.

Paramedics took him to a hospital in critical condition where he died.
