U.S. says it will work with Duterte after latest outburst
MANILA, Philippines >> The U.S. says it will work with the Philippine president to address any concerns after he threatened to terminate a pact that allows U.S. troops to visit the Philippines.
President Rodrigo Duterte was enraged after a U.S. government aid agency deferred a vote on a renewal of a major development assistance package for the Philippines over concerns about extrajudicial killings in Duterte’s war on illegal drugs.
Although no decision on the aid package has been taken, Duterte on Saturday launched an expletives-laden tirade, telling the U.S. to “prepare to leave the Philippines, prepare for the eventual repeal or the abrogation of the Visiting Forces Agreement.”
The U.S. Embassy in Manila says in a statement Washington will work closely with the Duterte administration to address any concerns it may have.

As a Head of State, Mr. Duterte deserves the respect due. I respectfully offer that we should give him his wish by removing all American influence from his Nation. Oh yeah, how about making it illegal to send US dollars as the so-called “remittances” to his nation also? Of course, that might cause problems since that’s a significant part of his GDP. Oh well. You can’t have it both ways. mabuhay..
I agree, you stop the remittances the people will get rid of this idiot.
He is evil but he knows how to play countries off against one another
Duterte is a serial killer and an incitor non-judicial mass murder. Give him enough leeway for him to destroy himself and his Evil.
The book book with short mans disease just like a little baby needs constant attention
Give him enough rope and he will hang his country.
Get out of the PI already. Let him ask his BFFs China and Russia for everything. He needs us more than we need him.
Here here for the US Aid. This man spits in the face of America but still expects our tax dollars in his pocket? He initiated a murderous rampage on his own citizens and then acts as if he is a President. This guy is a lolo head who hopefully ends up behind bars.
Cut his line and leave him to his own devices already…..enough of this monkey and his third world country ………
.
..
Can we please just cut ties already.
Geez what a piece of work. And people think WE have it bad? Just imagine Duterte with a twitter account…Break out the popcorn!
*UPDATE*
OMG he has one! Surprisingly boring compared to…You know….
Ooo..hit a nerve eh, the reality of his situation has only now dawned upon him. It’s not wise to bite the hand that feeds you Fool.
I can’t wait to see how Trump deals with him. This banana republic dictator needs to be put in his place.
Has anyone attempted to determine why or where his absurd antics derive from? The Moros has been with odds the established local government since before the Spanish-American War. Moros are a religious Muslim group and believe in Sharia Law. Our troops battled with the Spanish as well as the Moros in the Philippines and secured their freedom from Spain. Duterte under the guise of his war against drugs has been killing drug dealers/pushers? Some religion have strict morality code and are intolerant of drug use or sale. The inference is clear Western culture is very accommodating to pakalolo and other drug users. The US represents this great evil! Is Duterte a Moro?
Mr. Duterte wants to tear up the Visiting Forces Agreement, but still doesn’t have the guts to tear up the Mutual Defense Treaty that obligates the U.S. to defend the Philippines. If he really wants to strike out independently, then tear up both documents so the U.S. has no obligation to defend the Philippines. Only then should Mr. Duterte have any credibility whatsoever when he opens his flap.
Its open season on Duterte, he just admitted abusing prescription drugs. He’s a drug addict, P.I.s know what to do.
