U.S. warns of possible attacks on churches, holiday gatherings

WASHINGTON >> Federal authorities are warning Americans that Islamic State sympathizers are continuing to call for attacks on churches and other holiday gathering sites. The warning was issued after a publicly available list of U.S. churches was posted on a militants’ social media site.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security issued the warning to law enforcement agencies nationwide Friday, just days after an attack at a Christmas market in Berlin. Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack in which a truck plowed into the holiday market, killing 12 people and injuring 56.

FBI spokesman Andrew Ames says the FBI is aware of the list of churches posted online and is investigating its credibility.

  1. Mr Mililani says:

It seems like people attend Catholic mass a lot less these days even around the holidays. The pedophile Catholic priests and bishops have caused a great deal of harm that can never be undone. Our family always attended Sunday mass but we haven’t been going for some years now. Sorry to say that we will never go back. Other religions offer little appeal since many are too political for us. We worship at home as a family in our own way.

IRT Mr. Mililani, sorry that you have the same ideology as the Islamic State Terrorist, to destroy the Christian religion. I believe changes has begun throughout the United States and in many Free Countries where people are returning to Church and holding on to their Christian belief’s. Question, “Other religions offer little appeal since many are too political for us”. Do you mean political in the practice of the Christian faith, or political in belief of a liberal or conservative politics that got Mr. Donald J. Trump elected as President of the United States. If you are in the belief of the latter, than you support the Sen. Johnson 1958 law relating to the 1st Amendment.

Trump may be the least Christian president we have ever elected. He did, however, manipulate the evangelicals quite successfully and he has had a good laugh at their expense. So very sad…

        • calentura says:

Allie’s role model for a Christian life: Bill Clinton.

        • kuroiwaj says:

IRT Allie, watch the appointment of the Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court to replace AJ Scalia. The President elect Trump short list are all outstanding Conservative Originalist. Then, if there are any other nominees for the Supreme Court, the standard has been established. Also, the nominees for all the other Federal Courts throughout the United States. The Evangelicals have all prayed for this period, and President elect Trump has been delivering.

      • Honto5 says:

        I agree. Well said kuroiwaj.

        • calentura says:

So you and kuroiwaj both think that people who don’t go to church but worship at home share beliefs with Islamic State terrorists…? That’s quite a leap. People like you, who want to push an ideology, and the way it is practiced are actually more extreme.

      • NanakuliBoss says:

Where were these warning when an alt right white terrorist named Dylan Roof, gunned down 9 black senior church members in a prayer meeting? These good Americans they forgave this terrorist. A terrorist is one that instills terror.

        • kuroiwaj says:

IRT NanakuliBoss, the Hawaii born President Obama’s Homeland Security and Intelligence Service failed. Sorry that the Alt Right and Left were not in Obama’s sights.

  2. Snowmantoo says:

And while Rome burns, our president is fiddling with his sticks on the links. Come on January 20th.

  3. 64hoo says:

forget about any terrorist attacks happening right now maybe later on down the road they will plan something now that Obama let more than a 100,000 middle east refugees into this country how many are terrorist we will find out later.

    • HanabataDays says:

“A total of 38,901 Muslim refugees entered the U.S. in fiscal year 2016, making up almost half (46%) of the nearly 85,000 refugees who entered the country in that period, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center.”

Far cry from 100,000. But fake figures are part and parcel of the Con-in-Chief’s long con.

    • Tanuki says:

Are you talking about the killings at the black churches in South Carolina and Texas as well as the burning of the seven black churches? How many churches in the US have been attacked by refugees. Yeah, make America what again? Segregated, Jim Crow, elitist, racist, sexist and pure white. Register and then get rid of everyone who oposes your point of view. Then you will have a great America. When things start falling apart for T will you still be blaming Obama?

  4. Cellodad says:

I was not born into catholicism but my wife and child were. We intend to attend Midnight Mass again this year as we have every other since I was blessed to become a husband and father.
