A 58-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after police said he stabbed a man on New Year’s Day in Kahului.
Tissie Henriksen, of Kahului, was charged with second-degree attempted murder. His bail was set at $50,000.
Police said two men were fighting near the intersection of Kaahumanu and Puunene avenues at about 12:20 a.m. when one of the men was stabbed with an unknown object.
The victim was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center where his condition was stabilized. The suspect fled before police arrived.
Police arrested Henriksen in connection with the stabbing on Tuesday.
