Tight end from California commits to Hawaii
Gavin Reinwald, a tight end from Sacramento’s Elk Grove High School, told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted a scholarship from the University of Hawaii football team.
Reinwald is 6 feet 3 and 215 pounds. He is capable of running 40 yards in 4.62 seconds.
Reinwald and teammate Damario Mclean, who committed to the Rainbow Warriors on Sunday, completed a UH-sponsored recruiting visit the past weekend.
“We love what coach (Nick Rolovich) and all the coaching staff are doing there,” Reinwald said. “I felt I connected with each and every coach on that team. I really connected with the players. They’ve definitely got a lot going for next year.”
Reinwald played wideout, tight end and safety for Elk Grove. He said he will compete at tight end at UH. He said he hopes to weigh 235 pounds when he enrolls in UH’s bridge session in June.
Reinwald also received scholarship offers from Nevada, Wyoming and UC Davis.

Welcome to the team, Gavin! Congrats and go Warriors!
So does that mean we forget Taufa’asau’s offer and use his scholarship since his was not really committed according to his dad?
Seriously, that’s how you think we Rolo? #twotights
Why waste time on someone who is iffy, no matter the skill level? Rolo wants players who are committed and who want to be here. Nothing is set in stone until LOI signing day, so we’ll see who are committed to becoming Rainbow Warriors.
