Image shows the areas affected by the sewage spill on the Big Island
State health officials are advising the public to avoid waters near the Paukaa Sewage Pump Station on Hawaii Island after a sewage spill this morning.
The estimated 5,000 gallons discharged due to equipment malfunctions for about 50 minutes shortly after 8 a.m. It has been stopped and warning signs have been posted.
