All lanes of H-1 freeway in Kapolei reopened after power line replacement
Update 8:50 a.m.
Honolulu police reopened all east and westbound lanes of the H-1 freeway between Kualakai Parkway and Kamokila Boulevard interchanges.
A portion of the freeway was closed earlier today so that Hawaiian Electric crews could replace a high-voltage power line, which crossed the freeway, that fell on Jan. 21 due to high winds.
Previous coverage
Officials are warning West Oahu drivers that the H-1 freeway is closed in both directions this morning between the Kualakai Parkway and Kamokila Boulevard interchanges.
The closure will take place from 6 to 10 a.m. and will allow utility crews to replace a high-voltage power line, which crosses the freeway, that fell during a windstorm on Jan. 21, according to Hawaiian Electric Co. The freeway will reopen earlier if crews finish ahead of schedule.

Traffic will be detoured onto Kualakai Parkway and Farrington Highway. Honolulu police will be stationed along the detour route.
Officials are asking residents to plan ahead, expect delays and consider postponing travel until the work is completed. HECO plans to post live updates on the work to its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Working during the daylight hours would allow crews to finish the work more quickly than if it was scheduled at night, according to HECO.

Open in both directions. When we turned on KITV News at 7a.m., Jordan Segundo was reporting by westbound lanes and said they finished early. Drive safe…
SA, try watching the news or checking HECO’s FB page. The H-1 is open in both directions, and has been for well over an hour!
Sounds like HECO overly padded the time needed to accomplish the work.
they knew how long it would take but you gotta give extra time just in case things don’t go as planned..if they went over the time limit then they could get fined
