BALTIMORE >> Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and professional ballerina Misty Copeland have joined basketball star Stephen Curry in criticizing the CEO of sports apparel company Under Armour for praising President Donald Trump.

Kevin Plank, the CEO of Baltimore-based Under Armour, called Trump “an asset to the country” in an interview with CNBC this week. The company later issued a statement saying it engages in “policy, not politics.”

Under Armour sponsors Johnson, Copeland and Curry, who plays for the Golden State Warriors. Johnson sent out a statement on social media on Thursday saying Plank’s words “were divisive and lacking in perspective.”

Copeland wrote in an Instagram post she was so concerned about Plank’s comments that she spoke to him directly.

None of the three has severed ties with the company.

        • Consumers taking away $$$ from the Rock…a you know, the same thing they cried about happening with Ivanaka…#MAGA

        • As one gets older they should trim down unless they want to die young. The Rock still looks good to me, better than putting on excess weight when you don’t need it.

      • JohnnyRayBobRicey, the funny thing is that Dwayne is a Republican, he’s spoken at the national convention in the past. And you keep avoiding issues, like how does Trump whining about his daughter’s treatment by Nordstrom help to Make America Great Again? Sounds like he’s trying to Make America Great For Trumps. He should focus on his job instead of sending out tweets that make him appear to be a whiny little brat. If he wants to defend his daughter, that’s fine, but he should resign if he doesn’t want to focus on doing his job. Let Pence be president, he at least looks and acts like a president and won’t throw gasoline on every single little thing that comes his way. I didn’t mind giving Trump a chance and he’s done a couple of good thing, but he needs to focus on his job cause right now he’s not doing very well

        • @ earl_burrito_senorita
Keep up the hope of trying to impeach POTUS Trump…devastating LANDSLIDE LOSS that you’re going through will only stop when you lose the h@te.
America survived 8 long years of Making_America_Worse_BO…. certainly you will survive the next 8 years of POTUS Trump.
Please stop getting your info from FAKEnews as that will only make you look _______ (fill in the blank).
          Adios
          POTUS Trump Loyal Supporter moi.

        • “he should resign if he doesn’t want to focus on doing his job.”
Really?! All I’ve seen is Trump doing EXACTLY what he said he was going to do. He is doing the job much faster than anybody may have predicted.
Whereas, the rest of the country is whining and crying because he IS getting things done.
Hope you do not quit your day-job, cause you’ll never make it as a writer.

        • ToiletBrainNoCanReadRicey,
Never said he should be impeached and I don’t hate, you’re creating your own alternative facts. I want him to do his job but he can’t even focus on doing it right. He should either crap or get off the pot cause Pence will be much better as president. In fact the election should have been Pence vs. Kaine instead of Doofus #1 vs. Doofus #2.
And how can it be fake news, he really sent the tweets. Are you saying the tweets were faked? You don’t even know the definition of fake news.

        • Who’s the one fantasizing JohnnyToiletBrainRicey? You can’t answer the basic question – how does Trump whining about his daughter help to Make America Great Again? That’s been your basic premise and rallying call. You fantasize that if you don’t address the issue, it will go away. Why do you avoid the fact that Trump made those tweets and it’s impossiblefor it to be fake news. I’m disappointed, thought you were actually able to provide valid points but you just can’t do it or you just can’t face that Trump is too easily distracted. If Trump is not going to put in the work, he should quit and let Pence take over. He should get his rear end to work and back up his talk.

        • Johnny cannot handle ♫
          Johnny cannot take it ♫
Johnny isn’t smart enough to answer ♫

I’m sure people are willing to help you and would be willing to help Trump. The first step, as in everything else, is admitting you have a problem.

        • @GONEGOLFIN, how is whining about what happened to his daughter focusing on his job, on top of all the other things he tweets or whines about? And I have no delusions about being a writer, I’m just commenting. Are you afraid of the competition? Are you trying to create alternative facts too?

        • @ sjean
why do you keep reading my anti-trump propaganda comments if it upsets you so much? Sad. terrible.

        • Trump supporters aren’t to smart. Less than 3 weeks and he is already winded mentally and physically. Going to make Nixon and Bush 2 look like they were great.

    • Dwayne is so correct: we must all denounce Trump before he stomps all over the constitution and becomes what he is: a horrible dictator. We all miss President Obama so much.

      • I agree w/ you “Allie” … what the people need to do with “Adolph” Trump is to vote all his Republican “Ass kissers” out of Congress and get in Dems who will fight “Adolph” … too bad all my Univ of Hawaii shirts are UA … I love UH more than “Adolph” so I’ll keep ’em for now

LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!

      • Haven’t you noticed that Trump’s executive order have thus far been blocked by Judges? What’s this talk of dictatorship, Adolf, and walking all over the Constitution?

What a bunch of scared, panicked, delicate snowflakes.

      • All-Lies, between your belief that only Samoans attend Kahuku and all your other ridiculous statements, you have no credibility and makes anyone who supported Obama look bad.

  • He and the rest can all criticize all they want but they are still collecting their monies. Until he gives up his contract with UA then shut up!!! All the CEO said was “He’s highly passionate. To have such a pro-business president is something that’s a real asset to this country,” says Plank on Trump. If not for being pro-business do you think they would have these contracts?

  • There is nothing wrong with someone praising the President. People praise their bosses. All these celebrities and athletes using their name to jump into the political arena is wrong. And it’s getting out of hand. Hey just go act or play ball. Keep your jaws closed.

      • Let me clarify. I don’t like people using their famous names to possibly sway others in their judgement towards our President. Or other leaders and anyone else that matter. Yes they can say whatever they want but I don’t need to hear about it. And I know I’m not alone. And you know it as well.

        • Not only celebrities, I don’t need to hear regular people like Iokela saying whatever they want. And I know I’m not alone. And you know it as well…#MAGA

        • True, some people don’t want to hear celebrities broadcast their opinions (especially if they disagree with the celebrities’ opinions). But others believe that celebrities are role models who should use their fame to support worthy causes. We didn’t hear a lot of complaining when every celebrity was taking the ice bucket challenge for ALS. Everyone (except for hillbilly animal abusers) supports a celebrity who appears in “save the dogs and cats” commercials.

And those celebrities are citizens who have the right to free speech. It’s in the Constitution.

    • Please. You idi0ts elected a loudmouth celebrity to be president. Yet you expect other celebrities to shut up? I’d accuse you of hypocrisy, but your mind can’t grasp the concept…

      • I’m sure Trump would LOVE to have a reality show concurrent with his term called “Keeping up with the POTUS.” It would have really high ratings, because his mindless followers would follow every episode to catch every drop of his “wisdom.” His distractors would also watch to see what stoopid things he’ll say daily. Give the man his due, he knows how to promote garbage like it’s priceless jewelry (no allusion to Ivanka’s fashion line intended).

Note to Arnold: To boost your ratings, say stoopid things.

        • Ha! Politics aside, you may have come up with a new game. The POTUS TV show game. How about “POTUS Knows Best”? or “P.O.T.U.S.” “Everybody Loves POTUS” “POTUS… With Children”

          Anyway, Thanks for the chuckle.

        • New game, what do you think is going on now…Trump and the Media are in bed together, he provides the material and they report it…They get our clicks and attention…Nobody’s watching media without Trump and nobody can see Trump without media…Republicans/ Democrats doesn’t matter…#MAGA

    • Nah, they should help out our own homeless in Hawaii first. Have them sleep in their place, take them in, and help them first. Then maybe we can accept refugees. I see many homeless first that needs help.

      • The refugees want to escape the horrors happening in their homeland, actually work and be beneficial to society in the United States. The Homeless don’t have the same ethics.

  • These self-inflated celebrities are not spokesmen for this country or our people. They should just shut up and the media shouldn’t be following their every word. Imbeciles.

  • Put your money where your mouth i9s… Vote with your wallet. I can see only one course of action for the sports figures and actors who disagree with the statements of the company owner that sponsors them… Give back the money and end the sponsorship with that company.
I wonder if this will come before or after the threat to leave the country and move to Canada if Trump is elected President. LOL LOL LOL

  • I don’t know what Johnson’s true feelings are about the President, but with his position in Hollywood, you have to be a devout liberal to be successful, because it is so infested with far Left mindset. I have a feeling that the Rock is proud of the success of the new president, especially when compared to the eight long years of darkness America has had to endure under the former president.

        • Ok, you won the Made Up News of the Day award. Americans are not barred from entering Canada except in some cases where they have DUI convictions or other arrests/convictions; particularly, what we would classify as felonies.

        • Maybe I misspoke, Canada should think about it though, I hear majority of Americans are in favor of judging ALL in the group based off a small portion of the group…But still not actually address the majority of bads in the group…#MAGA

  • If the intent of the aforementioned individuals were to demean Mr. Plank for expressing his opinion, this would be unacceptable. I hope they understand that are being given the same rights and respect to express own opinions as Mr. Plank should. I hope this is clear enough to understand without having to into a long drawn out explanation. Just saying 🙂

  • Listen up, you “artists”. Your job is to entertain me and the masses. Period! How arrogant and presumptuous of you to think that what your political beliefs are mean anything to me. Not even close! Do you really think you know what is best for me than I do? Just act and entertain and keep your politics to yourself! Aloha.

  • It would be much better for the celebrities would focus on what made them famous. Be it a movie star, sports,etc.. Don’t delved into things other than what your talents have been known. If you want to go into politics do so. Don’t serve two Masters. It’s either one will do well and the other a failure. Abandon entertainment and embraced politics or vice versa!
