Wie holds narrow lead in LPGA event

Michelle Wie tees off on the 2nd hole during the HSBC Women’s Champions golf tournament held at Sentosa Golf Club’s Tanjong course on Saturday in Singapore.

SINGAPORE >> Michelle shot a 5-under 67 today and holds a two-shot lead over three others after the third round of the LPGA’s Women’s Champions tournament.

The round was delayed by a suspension of play.

Wie, who opened with a 6-under 66 on Thursday and followed that up with 69 on Friday, has a three-round total of 14-under 202.

Wie leads Lydia Ko (67), Sung Hyun Park (68) and Ariya Jutanugarn (69) by two shots.

Ha Na Jang shot 4-under 68 for 205 total and is three back along with Inbee Park (71). Four other golfers are at 9-under 207.

Wie had four birdies on her front nine for a 32. She birdied the 13th hole to go 5 under for the day. She bogeyed the par-3 15th but birdied the par-5 16th. She parred the final two holes.

Wie, who has struggled through injuries in the past few years, shot herself into contention with three consecutive rounds in the 60s.
