Police arrested a 46-year-old man today after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Waianae.

At about 2:50 a.m., police said the suspect and the victim, 25, were arguing when the suspect punched her in the face multiple times and tripped her. The man also allegedly choked her several times, police said.

Police said the victim was unconscious when patrol officers arrived. Emergency Medical Services reported the woman was alert upon arrival of paramedics, who treated the woman at the scene near the intersection of Farrington Highway and Pokai Bay Street.

EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright said the victim refused to be taken to the hospital.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of abuse.
