Hawaii baseball beats Cal State Northridge
Logan Pouelsen’s opposite-field single to left broke a 6-all tie in the seventh inning and helped the Hawaii baseball team defeat Cal State Northridge, 7-6, today at Matador Field.
The Rainbow Warriors beat the Matadors twice to win this three-game series and improve to 24-15 overall and 6-6 in the Big West. They also surpassed last year’s victory total, when they finished 23-30.
The ’Bows overcame a 4-0 deficit with a five-run fifth to take a 6-4 lead.
The Matadors tied it in the bottom of the fifth. But the ’Bows went ahead in the seventh when Adam Fogel reached on an error, advanced on an errant pickoff throw, and scored on Pouelsen’s single.
Dylan Thomas worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh then pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth for the save.
