Man charged in Waianae bank robbery

Prosecutors charged today a 54-year-old man in the Waianae branch American Savings Bank robbery on May 10.

Calvin Kuahiwinui was charged with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $75,000.

Kuahiwinui allegedly passed a demand note to the teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police arrested him Monday on suspicion of first-degree robbery, violating probation and drug charges.
