Honolulu police are looking for a 35-year-old man connected to an arson attempt that occurred in Waikiki Saturday morning.

Police reports said the man implied he was going to burn down the Ala Wai apartment with a cigarette when arguing with a 29-year-old woman. The incident occurred around 7:16 a.m.

The woman called the police after she left the apartment near University Avenue. When responding officers arrived around 11.45 a.m. and entered the house, the bedroom was full of smoke.

Police were unable to locate the man when they arrived on the scene. The police report listed the offense as arson in the first degree, which is a Class A felony.

Police are also searching for the man regarding offenses of sex trafficking and a protective order violation.
