Hamakua man indicted, arrested in 2016 Waipio Valley shooting death
Hawaii island police have arrested Wayne Teves, 67, of Hamakua, after a grand jury indicted Teves for a 2016 murder near the back of Waipio Valley.
Teves was being held at the Hilo cellblock on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to make his initial appearance today in Circuit Court.
Teves was arrested Monday at his home in Waipio Valley and charged with second-degree murder and carrying or using a firearm in the commission of a separate felony.
On March 3, 2016, police found the body of Waipio Valley resident Thaine Price, 49, partially submerged in a stream near the back of Waipio Valley. An autopsy determined that Price died from a gunshot wound to the torso.
