Keaau man arrested in two Hawaiian Paradise Park burglaries
Hawaii island police arrested an 18-year-old Keaau man for several offenses stemming from two burglaries reported within seven minutes of each other in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.
His bail was set at $96,000 pending his initial appearance Wednesday in District Court.
Benson Maddison was arrested Monday at the scene of a traffic accident on Highway 11 in Mountain View in a stolen SUV. Earlier In the evening, a 72-year-old man had reported tools and electronic items stolen from his residence, and that the suspect had tried to hot wire his pickup truck on property.
Maddison was also responsible for driving a stolen Honda CRV in Hilo earlier this month.
He has been charged with three counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, two counts of first-degree burglary, and one count each of theft in the second-degree, promoting a detrimental drug, driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving without a license and accidents involving damage to vehicle or property.
