Surf up to 6 to 9 feet is expected today along the south shores of all islands and a high surf advisory is in effect.

The National Weather Service said waves up to 4 to 7 feet would roll in this morning along affected shores, peaking this afternoon through Saturday. The advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. Saturday.

Weather officials said beachgoers can expect “strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.”
