Man arrested in Kakaako for assaulting police officer

    Police and emergency medical workers respond to the scene of an assault on a police officer Saturday at Coral and Auahi streets in Kakaako.

A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he assaulted a police officer in Kakaako, police said.

A local building security officer reported the man had damaged private property at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Responding officers were arresting the man near Coral and Auahi streets when he assaulted a 31-year-old police officer, police said.

He was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
