Large brush fire closes section of Kaalaiki Road on Hawaii island
A large brush fire near Higashi Camp and Keaiwa Camp on Hawaii island has forced the closure of a section of Kaalaiki Road, police said this evening.
The Hawaii Police Department sent out an advisory that Kaalaiki Road, Pahala thru to Keaiwa Camp Road, is closed because of the fire.
The 30 acre brush fire forced the closure of Kaalaiki Road for the night and likely most of tomorrow, police said. There is no detour and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
Police said no homes are under threat, but additional fire crews are being called to assist in getting the fire under control.
