Yomiuriland amusement park in western Tokyo kicked off a festive illumination display using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on Thursday. World-renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii is behind the "Jewellumination" event. The 5.5 million LEDs give an impression of jewels that have been scattered among the trees and shrubs, as well as on a massive Ferris wheel. There is also a waterworks show synced with lights and music. The event will continue until Feb. 18.
