Part of H-1 westbound to be closed for lighting replacement
The westbound H-1 freeway will be closed between the Vineyard Boulevard offramp and the Vineyard Boulevard/Halona Street onramp from 10 p.m. Sunday through 4:30 a.m. Monday for overhead lighting replacement work, according to state officials.
Westbound H-1 freeway traffic will be detoured around the closure via the Vineyard Boulevard offramp (Exit 22) and may reenter the freeway at the Vineyard Boulevard/Halona Street onramp.
During closure hours, the North School Street onramp and Punchbowl Street onramp and tunnel will be closed.
Motorists wanting to take the Pali Highway to Kailua will be allowed access from Vineyard Boulevard. Motorists taking the westbound Lunalilo Street onramp will be detoured to Vineyard Boulevard or may stay on Lunalilo Street to South School Street.
HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and use alternate routes like Vineyard Boulevard and Nimitz Highway. Electronic message boards have been posted to notify motorists of the closures.
