Jayse Polaris Lee, 40, is wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting on the Big Island.

Hawaii island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for questioning after someone shot at a police officer in Puna.

Jayse Polaris Lee, 40, should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached him, police said.

He was described as 5-foot-6, 250 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and a mustache and beard.

Police said the shooting happened about 6 a.m. Feb. 9. Officers responded to a report of gunshots followed by a woman yelling in the Tiki Gardens subdivision and saw a man leaving the area. The man pointed a gun at an officer and fired one shot before running into some bushes.

The officer was not hit and did not return fire. Despite an extensive search, police could not locate the suspect.

Anyone with information on Lee’s whereabouts is asked to call Big Island police at 935-3511.
